I recently bought a 95 f250. It has a green metallic flake paint job which is very clear for the year of the truck. this truck has been very well taken care of by the previous owner.
here's the prob: when i waxed my truck, the rags turned green......like the paint was coming off although it didn't seem to actually affect the paint ( the paint was still very clear).
what i used: mother's glaze and sealer, mother's carnuaba wax, terry cloth towels.
anyone have and idea as to what might be happening?
It's definitely a single stage paint, just by the fact you mentioned it's wiping off on the terry cloths and such. What you're experiencing is a pretty common problem with age and single stage systems. The paint code for that truck should be on the data plate on the door. If you take the paint code and call your local automotive paint supply store they'll be able to tell you exactly what the truck was initially sprayed with.
