Exclamation Help!..Found something in trans pan...Help!!

While doing a tranny service on my 1989 F-150, 302 w/AOD tranny, I found an off-white plunger-type item laying in the pan. It's bulbous with an o-ring gasket on it.

Does anyone know where this is supposed to be?? I am right in the middle of the servicing and its starting to show signs of rain. (no garage)

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated soonest...

Having never drained a tc before, is it a wise idea to add a few quarts of fluid to tranny, start truck to circulate, then add more? Dont want to blow anything up.

you are also draining the torque convertor, right?

if not you should be.

i put 4 quarts in and than start the vehicle.

i also use one quart of lucas trans fluid, it is thick so i boil water and than put the container in to make it flow better.

after 7 quarts are in is when i add lucas.
