I have a '04 F150 4x4 XLT SCab. I noticed recently that the front passanger side window switch would not work from the passanger side but it works with the drivers side master switch. Well, this weekend I figured I would tear into it to see if I could find out more details of what the problem could be. Here is what I have done....
I replaced the passanger side front switch with the one from the rear. No, differance, the back window works using the back switch but the Front passanger side still is not functioning. I even went as far as to contact a friend of mine who also has a '04 Scab and tried using thier Master switch in my truck and it did not make any differance. I checked continuity from the drivers side to the passanger side and all is fine there. I even went as far as to check the 30A Relay in the fuse panel to see if it was bad, but it was fine. I removed the door panel to ensure that all the wires to the motor were in tacked and seated firmly and they are.
I am at a loss of ideas of troubleshooting this farther, so I am turning to this forum for more ideas of what the problem could be. The window functions using the driverside controls and the passanger control works if I place it on the rear but the passanger side front window will not function (nor light up) when using the passanger side controls.
Any help is greatly appreciated in assisting with this problem.
did you check continuity from the pass side switch to wherever it leads to...i would assume the window motor? i would believe that they are different wires from the drivers side and the pass. side that control the window. probably a break in the pass side wiring between the switch and motor if i had to take a guess.
The Passanger Side switch is tied into the Driver side master. If you unplug the Passanger Side Switch the Driver Side will not open the window (unless the Passanger Side switch is connected. So, with that the Motor is wired directly to the Passanger side connector, which works with the drivers side switch. So, the conitnuity must be good if it works with the Drivers switch throught the passanger side connector.
Basically in the connection block on the drivers side control there are at least 8 leads of wires. One set runs from the drivers side block to the passanger side control then from there it runs to the motor. Even the rear door windows are connected to the fronts. The back passanger windows is connected to the front passanger side control. It truely is a wiring nightmare.
Yes, it is in the "unlock" position. All of the rest of the windows open and close with thier appropriate control unit, except for the passanger side front. When I place the window lock switch in the "Locked" position none of the windows will open or close with thier appropriate control switch unless useing the master control on the Drivers side door.
do the wires (both driver and passenger) run thru the same wires at the window motor coming from the pass. side switch? or are there seperate wires coming off the switch going to the motor for driver and passenger
Each individual motor has 2 wires coming from it to a in-line quick connect than the 2 wires from the quick connect run to each appropriate control switch. The Passanger side Control switch has a connection block with 5 or 6 wires in it. The quick connect is connected because the window works from the drivers side controller.
now i am confused. so there are wires going directly from the switch to the window motor then? and wires going from the switch over to the drivers side like you said earlier? what you may want to do is take your meter and probe the wires at the pass. side switch.. and make sure that you are getting voltage on the output side (and input) of it when the switch is being used...if so then there is a break in the wire or something between the switch and the motor
I have a 2005 Supercrew, and the passenger window is always going out. I think I took it into the dealer 3 or 4 times, 1 time the drivers window switch frozen up. But everytime I take it in for the passenger window they fix a part, it works for a few days and then the passenger window doesn't want to work half the time. I don't know if it related to what weather is outside or what. But Most of the time the passenger window will go down after rolling it down with the drivers side. It will always go up, just doesn't want to go down. I got a few more thousand before the warrenty is up, so Im hopping I can find some info on here about it.

MY TRUCK IS DOING THE EXACT SAME THING, IT ALWAYS GOES UP FROM THE PASS. SIDE BUT IT ONLY GOES DOWN SOMETIMES, AND IT ALWAYS WORKS FROM THE DRIVER SIDE SWITCH, sorry for the caps but i just realized n i didnt feel like going back and retyping it, although writing this explanation probably tool longer than what it would have taken me 2 redo it in the first place, damn it !!!!
I found out if i rock the window button (from up to down really fast), I can get the window to go up and down, even if it doesn't want to. So I guess the switch is bad. My Drivers rear and the front passenger side.
