Its really a matter of opinion on this one. Many Ford dealers who install chips will install it right off the lot. Since modern vehicles don't have stringent break-in requirements you can generally chip them right off the bat.....
However....
I personally recommend you wait until you've put a 1,000 miles on it so you've had a track record of problem-free driving before adding another variable to the equation.
Thanks for the tip..I'm up to 3000 now so I'm gonna delve into this a little deeper.
Do you have any info on engine or transmission life after chip installation? I'm sure how long the truck engine chip market has been around but do you know if there is anything out there (data, specs) on how engines do after these things are put in?
I don't have any hard data, but I've seen people with high mileage using chips for a long time. The chips aren't doing anything dramatic, its not like adding a Supercharger or NOS.
