Hi guys , Can someone tell me is there a rubber insert located inside the rectangle mount that is bolted to the transmission crossmember ? My tranny mount doesn't have one and I am getting a thumping noise when I go over bumps and there is a little play in the trans mount and that leads me to think that maybe something might be missing . Also there is a little backlash in the driveshaft on the tranny side when you rotate the driveshaft but the u joints are tight is that normal ? Thanks

Uh..what is the year, make, model, transmission type, and engine size?
I am looking at a strait drive 4sp with OD out of a 1987 ranger right now.
Yes, it has rubber in there, along with some positive locking metal strap over strap parts incorporated into the mount. I'm sure Automatics are the same way if you run an automatic.
Most every rear trans mounts on most every truck I have dealt with any year and any make, has some form of rubber in the rear mounting assembly.
Also, they all have some form of play in the rear output shaft of the trany. They shouldn't have too much, but a little bit is normal. If you notice play while sitting still and going from drive to reverse, sonething might be getting too slopy, but just being able to move the output shaft a little with your hands isn't in itself indication of something bad wrong.
