ok so i have a 1994 ford f250 4wd 5spd with a 351... so my question is not really motor related its about my transfer case and transmission seem to be low on aoil but what types of oils is needed for these items is Gear Oil whats needed or is their another type used ..
Im not certain if oil is the reason but my 4wd does not ingage into the 4L position my hubs are electric so im not so familar with them or if anything is damaged please help if u can and thanks in advance...
well i added oil to both the tranny and transfer case ... because they needed it but my 4wd will not ingage ... so im kinda stumped if any info let me know thanxs!
You're right, it's not really an engine-related question...but your tranny and t-case both should use automatic transmission fluid. If you added gear oil, it's too thick and won't carry properly to lubricate thoroughly (I believe certain oil passages were made smaller for the thinner ATF).
A good upgrade would be a synthetic ATF such as Redline or Royal Purple.
