Ford 351 engine. Brother inlaw installed new distributor drove it hard on test run and now won't hardley stay running. Distributor install is correct, plug wires are correct, carb is ok.? Suggestions anyone? My thought is that maybe he dropped a valve and I should do a dry/wet compression test. Thanks
Don't be surprised if a mod moves this to the smallblock forum, but........if he installed a dizzy that was intended for a roller engine, and you've got a hyd. flat cam, the steel dizzy gear will cause serious wear to the drive teeth on the cam, so it won't hold time. The hyd. cam is a cast iron core, and is "softer" than the steel roller. Is it making any new noises since the dizzy R&R? What do your plugs look like?
