I have been looking into a clunking noise in my front end for a while now. I have replaced the shocks, which have made the best difference. I am also thinking it could be the sway bar links or bushings, or maybe both... since ford wants around $180CAD for those things, I was thinking of just removing the sway bar itself. Would I be asking for trouble by doing this. If it helps, its a 2002 F250 4x4 5.4L.
sorry about the repost, my computer did not show the first one for a while...

You may be able to find urethane bushing kits for far less.
If you like the 1950's feel of listing like a torpedoed tanker in turns, you'll love your truck without a sway bar. "Sway bar" is really a misnomer anyway. These bars keep the truck or car more level in cornering.
Plus, if you have front and rear and you disconnect the front, you are asking for trouble. You could end up with "oversteer" in the right conditions, and that's no good. (back end breaks loose first...not good)
Check the prices here. Mustang stuff, maybe they have some for trucks but I couldn't find it in truck stuff. $40 or so?
A 2002 F250 that oversteers, is a car, not a truck. Highly unlikely that oversteer is going to be an issue.
Is the truck lifted or stock?
I have a set of links that are brand new with poly bushings that you can have if you want to run the sway bar. I don't run sway bars on my 02 SD, and these are just sitting here. Don't really have the heart to throw them out, but would not have a problem giving them to someone who might need them, PM me if you would like some pics.

Hook up the back one and leave the front off and then go pitch it into a corner and let us know how that works out.....
