Jet chip or Diablo?????

thanks,
Daniel
If your Jet chip is anything like the one that I had in my 97 Dakota, I suggest that you immediately go out to your truck, rip the stupid thing out, and then banish it from this world with a couple good whacks of a 22-ounce waffle-faced framing hammer (I am partial to Estwing models).
I don't know if you fell for the same line of crap that I did, but I spent some hard earned money on my Jet chip and couldn't tell the difference when I put it in the truck. I even called the company and they said I have to drive about 500 miles before the full effects are realized. On a side note, they were incorrect - I lost fuel economy immediately, along with a steady idle. I think (not sure) the Jet chip tricks the computer into putting more fuel into the engine by falsifying sensor data such as engine temperature. Whatever they do, the only real change I saw was a 2-3 mpg decrease in fuel economy.
I put a diablo in my current truck (99 Expy), and there was a difference right away. Shifting was much firmer under full throttle, and there was a noticible increase in power. I can't say I've seen much of a mileage boost, but it certainly hasn't deteriorated. I tend to have a heavy foot and seldom get on the highway, so I am lucky to get 11 mpg. To be fair to Diablo, I only used two tanks of gas before putting the chip in my truck, and I was somewhere around 8.5 - 9 MPG on these two tanks. However, I realize that I tend to be extra heavy on the gas pedal whenever I get new vehicles. Since having the chip installed, I have only gotten below 9 mpg on a tank one time - and I was really honking on it.
Go out and get yourself a Diablosport, and I'm pretty sure you'll get better mileage and absolutely certain you'll see more power. I believe a typical gain is 10% of your current horsepower.

Estwing makes great hammers! The Jet chips, while giving transmission changes, only give a performance boost at wide open throttle. This is why they claim 50 state legal emissions because emissions don't apply at WOT.
When called about Hypertech and others, I don't knock. Most have fine reputations and products. Jet, however, is one I have no problems telling people to stay away from.
