rust damage

I recently sanded and and put two coats of epoxy primer on my 48 f1 bed. But some parts of the bed have a rough texture (pock marked) from rust.
what can I use to smooth it for painting.

Try using something like Metal Glaze, or any two part glazing compound, stay away from the 3m red glazing putty in the tube,, it's a PITA. There's another out there called ICE and Thin Ice that both work really well.

You might also consider a primer surfacer. Usually a two component product, it is sprayed on and fill most minor imperfections. It's kind of like Bondo in a gun.
