Ken-v10Chips again
Ken,
I have read some of your posts. But I read on diesel.com that there is a Diablo chip coming with three settings (reg, 2 high output). Is there any truth to this? I have a 2001 250, v10 auto 4x4 373 and have been putting off a chip to get the Hyp. programmer but am not sure I want to wait anymore. I was thinking that I needed the ability to adjust tire size to recal. speedo, increase power, remove speed limiter.By the way-Code: IWG0<that's a Zero. So, one more time:
1)What is the better chip for these needs (I am not worried about a few bucks difference - although I don't want to get burned.)
2) Do I need to do exhust/ other changes before chip?
3) You do sell chips - right?? What is the best way to contact you.
Thanks in advance.
Byram
P.S. Anyone with valid use comments please give your take on this...

Yes. You have to pay for each program. First program, normal price, each additional program is about $100 (estimated). You can switch it on the fly at any RPM.

With a gas chip, any sort of switchable chip is a waste of money less you've got custom modifications that need it or need a race program. Its not like a diesel where you can keep pumping out more power at the expense of engine temps. Either you tune it performance or you don't. If you've got NOS a multi-program chip would make sense because you could run a 93 octane program all the time and the flip over to NOS whenever you want to switch on the nitrous.
Yeah, you could get an 87 octane program along with a high octane program but you won't gain anything with it. With 87, zero performance increase other than the transmission. With high octane, you get the performance increase plus a mileage increase so your fuel costs stay the same either way.
As to the Hypertech, I don't see 2001 listed on their charts for th V10 (there are for other applications) and their V10 charts show that their V10 programmer doesn't have any of the benefits you're looking for:
1. Can't move the rev limiter
2. Can't change tire size/gear ratio
3. No duel fuel (87/93) support

Ken-v10Chips again
Ken,
Thanks for the response...
I am ready to order a chip, but I have a couple of questions. Do you have a phone number & can I order from you?
My concern is do all diablo chips have speed limiter removal or is this something that you have to designate and they "custom program" for this.
My e-mail is bchristensen1@austin.rr.com if you would rather use it.
