Problem with Manual Hubs

I bought a 96 F250 HD with the Dana 50 a few months ago. When i bought it the driver side manual hub would not engage so i bought a pair of MM manual hubs. When i went to install the drivers side hub i could not get it to slide in without using a pry bar on the u-joint to line up the axel. It worked fine for a while but now the driver side will not engage again. I took it apart and it is somewhat chewed up. I think since the axel is a little off it keeps chewing up the hubs. I have replaced the needle bearing twice and have swapped spindles with the passanger side but no luck. If anyone has any ideas it would be appreciated.

Pete.. this should have been a red flag. Sounds to me like that U joint is siezed, you need to disassemble the hub, remove the drive shaft from that side and replace the U joint.

I probably should have added that i have already changed the u-joint and wheel bearings. I also replaced the carrier when i got the truck since it was also chewed up.

With the spindle off the axel looks like it doesnt come through the center of the knuckle. I wonder if something is bent but i didnt notice anything.

Thanks for your help.

How about jacking the truck up, throwing it in 4wd, take the lockouts off, slowly givin' her some gas, and watching the end of the left axle shaft. If it makes a circular pattern then I would suspect a bent component. But what do I know?

Wow how did you not catch that before? That's a pretty nasty hit man. Good luck with the swap, let us know how it turns.
