Ignition key question?
I have an '06 F-250. How can I tell if I have the transponder system that takes a key with a chip in it? My '04 F-150 had it and it had a red blinking light on the dash which I understand did nothing, and my '02 Escape has the system and no blinking light, but this truck doesn't have that light. Do all the '06's require the key with the chip? Or was it an option? How can I tell if I have it? Would like a spare key but don't want to pay the dealer price.

My '02 F250 SD, is just a metal key, no plastic, or chip.My '99s (F150,Explorer)both were chipped.I thought my truck had all of that crap eliminated because of the remote start, I guess it didn't have it to begin with.No blinking light either, but the '99s had it.
