seems as though my fuel milage has gone down. i think im only getting about ten mpg. 92 7.3 banks turbo crew cab dually. What can i do to improve mpg at least to 13? more would be nice though. Would love to fill my tank all the way and get an accurate reading but times are tough so i have to nickle and dime. Any help would be appreciated.
You must have 410 rear axle..... air filter maintenance and running good fuel with additives is the best fix. How old are the injectors and IP. How big is the exhaust system......3"...4"........ got a muffler on it still.
funny thing is i havent even figured out my gear ratio yet . have a k&n filter, banks 3" exhaust to muffler then 3 1/2" out after muffler. dont know about the injectors or ip pump. Ive had the truck for about 6 mos and i havent replaced them yet. if needing to replace injectors should i upgrade to a stage 1 or would a stock replacement be better.
I'm well aware that fuel costs are waaaaaay up & they just are not going back to where they were BUT it costs exactly the same to keep the top 1/2 of the tank full as the bottem 1/2 plus if you choose to check MPG it can be done on the top. that said you might try burning FILTERED WMO for a while 50% to even 100% fi the weather is warm it sure cuts the total cost of fuel down.

That's it. Some people do it and say they have no problems - some people have wasted their pump & injectors doing it too.
Keep in mind, you can filter it finely enough to get the metals and most of the soot out of it, but no matter how finely you filter it, you can't get rid of the acids and such....
my trucks pump is finally on her last legs so she'll be getting a new one this month, new delphi nozzels too, the savings from burning WMO has paid for 'em several times over, plus it looks like there is 218,000 on the original nozzels so they are well past due.
is 4.56 stock for this truck? It still has the axle tag on the diff cover. Finally looked at it and wrote it down V170D 10 10 2 2B19. Can you translate this for me anybody? i actually wouldnt mind down sizing to try and gain a little top end and gain a little better fuel milage. Bottom end im not so worried about because i dont really tow much and that travel trailer sits for periods at a time. Just dont want it to be a total dog off the line.
