This is a new SSI that Ford released on Friday related to an injector issue. Here's the details:
SUBJECT: Advance Notice: DEMONSTRATION/DELIVERY HOLD
Special Service Instruction 07T07
Certain 2008 Model Year F-Super Duty Trucks with 6.4L Diesel Engines
Fuel Injector Replacement
AFFECTED VEHICLES
Certain 2008 Model Year F-Super Duty Trucks equipped with 6.4L Diesel Engines built at the Kentucky Truck Assembly Plant from April 3, 2007 through May 21, 2007. Approximately 3,100 vehicles are affected and are identified by VIN in OASIS.
REASON FOR THIS PROGRAM
In all of the affected vehicles, three (3) fuel injectors were subjected to a reverse polarity voltage during engine testing. The injectors that received reverse polarity will not operate properly. This may potentially cause the vehicle to run rough, hesitate, or stumble on acceleration.
SERVICE ACTION
DO NOT DEMONSTRATE or DELIVER any of the affected vehicles involved in this Special Service Instruction Program. A complete Dealer bulletin will be provided to Dealers the week of June 4, 2007 when it is anticipated that parts ordering information and repair instructions will be available to support this Program.
You will hesitate on from a stop. power will be lacking, mileage will be down.
Take your truck in if you even have a slightest doubt. Dealer will check and hold if it is on list. Do not wait or more serious trouble will occur.
atleast its only 3100 trucks, not the 800k trucks they produce annually lol.
I read a Ford release today that there were 3100 6.4L engines involved in the reverse polarity on cylinders #1,#3 and #5 during engine testing at the factory. Most of the affected truck engines were either at the factory or at the dealerships. These have been or are being corrected. There are just over 800 trucks that are in customer hands who are being recalled to correct the injectors.
I appreciate how quickly Ford reacted to this problem by finding a fix and getting the injectors out to the dealerships for repair.
What exactly do they have to do to replace the effected injectors. I can't even see the valve covers when I lift the hood up. Does the cab need to be removed. The truck I am planning to purchase is effected and the dealer is going to do the SSI. I'm concerned with them taking something apart before it's even delivered and putting back together correctly.

The cab does NOT have to be removed. Calm down on cab removal! It has been made very easy and simple to do. Think of it this way; its just different, and because of that, it sounds spooky.
Well...my truck came in June 1st. Still do not have it yet. Still waiting... Meanwhile I drive my trusty trouble free '03.
While I think I understand the root of the problem, I do however, get the feeling that there is no urgency here with Ford. I was told that the service injectors that were in stock at the dealership were not the correct ones for this repair and that they did not know when the correct ones would be here. bla...bla....bla.... GOOD GRIEF! SOMEONE CONTACT SOMEONE AND GET THE BLESSED PARTS AND FIX THIS PROBLEM ASAP. THIS ISN'T BRAIN SURGERY.
If my company used this as an example of customer care/service, I am afraid it would be out of buisness in short order. But then, my pockets aren't quite as deep as FMC, for now anyway! AND, good luck to all of you out there affected by this minor delima, we will somehow, at our expense, survive this.
