95 F350 CC 4WD 5sp, stock. I have my newly rebuilt and upgraded injectors back and I'm ready to start putting stuff back together this weekend but I need some advice on how to get everything primed and ready safely. I'm going to check the injector cups with a coolant pressure check and assuming that's good the injectors go in first. Then refill HPOP and rail plugs. I have a bottle of lubricity additive for the fuel and a fresh filter, new oil and filter too. What electrical stuff needs to be disconnected for the cranking period other than valve cover harnesses? Since I'll have to pull the GP's to make sure the cylinders are clear, I would like to go ahead with a compression test too. Should I crank with the key or by jumping the solonoid on the fender? I don't know what I'm doing and just want to make sure I've got everything that's supposed to be full of fuel and oil safely filled and don't damage anything. Any tips or advice on what not to do greatly appreciated.
If you haven't evacuated the cylinders of oil & fuel .It is best to do this by turning the motor over by hand from the crank. If you feel the need to cut off power to the injectors. pull fuse #9 & 22..The only thing I would do is fill the HPOP resevoir & the fuel filter & have someone one turn it over while you bleed the air out of the HP oil lines & the fuel lines..its gonna take some time to get it to start, but it will...Put a charger on the batteries, & don't run the starter to long at a time.....
how do you tell if the injectors are fireing, after i replaced the cups and orings on the left (driver) side I wanted to start it up and it fired after about a min but sounds like its only running on 4 cilnders
What kind of shape are the wiring harnesses for the injectors on that side? You can just unplug one at a time to isolate it with the valve covers off. If they are on, you can unplug the connectors in the valley on the drivers side and start it and see if it runs the same. If one whole side isn't firing, you've likely got problems with the wiring or possibly the idm.
edit: what was the reason for the work you did in the first place?
