Recently my oil dummy light has been going on and off. When it does my water temp gauge shorts out and it shorts out my A/C too. When the oil light is off water temp gauge and A/C work fine. Oil pressure gauge seems to be working fine, doesn't fluctuate, oil and water levels are fine.
One thing to remember about Fords is that the electrical is most all interlinked through the computer. Thus, its reading all the functions simultaniously and if one thing is dismantled or faults, it tends to create issues in multiples.
04markIII,
Just curious, what dealership do you work at? I've been to Apple Valley and Townsend several times for my expy parts. Just think it's funny we could have bumped into each other without knowing.

i work in parts at apple valley. i am moving on to acton lincoln-mercury at the end of the month. swing by before i leave.
guys i have a 97 exped. my door locks, window switches and mirrors don't stop working even when the truck is off i have checked fuses and relays but can't seem to find anything but if i let the truck sit for 1 day my battery will be dead and i don't really know how to find a short (yes i'm a girl haha!)what else can i do?
Your truck comes with a 10 minute timing unit that will allow you to use your windows and locks after shutoff. Once you open the door, the timing unit cuts out.
It sounds like this timing unit relay is engaged (fused) and won't release. I don't know where this piece is, but ask your friendly Ford dealer to print you a schematic and a cost for it. This should help you locate it to replace it or at least unplug it to stop the battery drain, if unplugging it doesn't affect anything else. Also, that is unless someone chimes in here to provide that info. before you get to the dealer. Good luck..let us know what happens.
There is a problem with the GEM module becoming wet if it rains hard or for a couple of days. This will cause all kinds of electrical gremlins with your truck. Most of the time the fix for this is replacing the GEM module and resealing your windshield.
thats what he said it was but i couldnt tell if he said gen or gem thanks alot the truck was like this when we purchased but didn't notice until a week later.where do i find the part?
I was convinced the GEM was bad in wifes Expedition but took it to an auto electric shop anyway.
We all agreed it was probably the GEM but after testing, it turned out to be one of the license plate lights.
Cut the wires to it & taped them up and NO more problems. It's bbe about a year now & I still haven't replaced it. Thanks for reminding me.
