I was driving down the main drag today when i went by the local dodge dealer and way in the back, still visibal from the raod was sitting and 1984 F.250, 4x4 5.8 standard, the transmission is none like ive ever seen before, its round, no pan,i could not tell how many gears it has cause some kid must have owned it and put one of those ricer shift ***** on it, its got a sony cd player, aluminum wheels, guy on the phone said there is a gas leak, the driver side is full of bondo, i got a 91 parts truck i could take the doors and the bed off of, motor looks clean, i think im going to go hear it run tommarow, btw, no puddles underneth, i have a 87 F.150 with a blown up 5.8, would this be worth buying for the 500 they want for it and taking the motor out down the road
theres is holes in the bed and and the driver side cab corner was rebuilt with bondo, i just want something to take to the local trucknite , now when i say holes in the bed, obviously the fuel pump went out on the rear tank at one point because someone cut a hole in the bed for this purpose, im thinking get some scrap sheetmetal from work, rivet it in and throw a bed liner in it, but there are more rust holes, and also the dealer told me there is a fuel leak, if its a gas tank i got 2 brand new southern tanks on my wrecked parts truck oh and the price was $500.00
pretty sure im going to get it,the salesman actually asked "Are you serious" when i called, obviously doesnt know a good truck when he sees one
That's for sure. To some folks, if it isn't new, it isn't worth having. Those of us who know more about trucks know that the late 70s to mid 80s were probably the best built Ford trucks ever. The truck you describe sounds like a good place to start building a real nice truck. That gas leak may be an easy fix. If so, the value of the old girl will probably double just from fixing that.
I have an 84 F250 4x4 4spd truck that is a very solid truck and serves me well. Sure, I'd like a new truck as well as the next guy but I just don't need a $600 a month payment. Ol' Blue is incredibly reliable, gets decent gas mileage with her 300 CID 6, and can haul anything I need to haul. Yeah, she looks a bit worn around the edges but then so do I so what's the problem.
well, just got home, i went and test drove it,they again thought a was kidding when i told them $450 cash right now, so they accepted the offer and we signed some papers, they gave me the keys and i have to go pick it up later,i couldnt drive to vehicles at once, and i wasnt letting my dads superduty sit there, i ll tell u guys one thing, this truck got some gears in it, shes a stump puller
