Sounds like crap on a gas engine man. Yeah its loud but its all cackly and gross. Get a nice open muffler like a 40 series flowmaster or something similar, it'll give you a nice deep growl.
some of those summit ones say "This exhaust system will not fit vehicles with auxiliary fuel tanks" I have the stock dual tanks on my truck..will it not fit?
cheese74, Your stock dual tank setup is not what they are refering to when its says auxilary. On my truck I have a single inlet, dual outlet Flowmaster 50 series with mandrel bent tailpipes exiting in front of the right rear tire. Sounds great. Cost for the parts was less than $100.00
If you really want an inexpensive exhaust you can do it yourself for under $100. I went to Pep Boys and bought a Cherry Bomb Turbo muffler and a 2 1/14 to 2 ½ reducer, two 45 degree’s 2 ½’s, chrome tip and a couple of hangers and clamps for under $80.00. It now goes out the side in front of the passenger side tire. It has an ever so slight growl to it and gave me a little extra power as well. Now this in on a 1995 F-150 with stock cats and on a 5.0. I fire her up without the muffler and it was surprisingly fairly quiet, but I went ahead and slapped on a muffler to avoid that annoying popping sound when decelerating.
Yeah bottle mufflers or glasspacks are the cheapest exhaust mufflers like flowmaster 40s get into the big bucks actually i hear a 351W straight piped and a 302 straight piped the 351W had 21/4 pipe and the 302 had 2.5 pipe wow id have to say both sounded bad *** especially the 351W

You have clearly never heard mine. I agree with Quicklook2, straight pipe is incredible on my 351 and I get many compliments on it. I have a 3" pipe from cat back and a 4" tailpipe. My stainless system is welded and it makes for a great rumble when I get on it.
If you want budget, there is nothing cheaper than a straight pipe. PM me if you would like more details.

Dude whats with the negative reputation points? My opinion is that straight pipes on a gas engine sounds gross!! Research before I post? This has nothing to do with research, it has everything to do with the fact that I have heard a truck like mine straight piped and it is my opinion that it didn't sound as nice as a nice deep 2 chamber muffler. I can have my opinion and so can you! That's immature and lame of you to give me negative reputation. Think before you act.

I have run my 351 with nothing behind the stock cats except a simple turndown and it wasn't really that loud. The stock cats really take the edge off.. unless they have been hollowed out.
Oh and by the way Mike, I have always known a "straight pipe" to be no muffler NOR any cats. That is the system that I was referring to when I said that a "straight pipe" has a cackly/sloppy sound. What you have is a straight cat-back system. That has a VERY different sound than an actual straight pipe. I can't vouch for your setup because I have never heard a no-muffler cat-back system on these trucks, I'm sure it sounds fine because the cats tend to dull down a sound a little bit. I'll just go ahead and give you a bad rep point for not knowing the correct terminology...
No I'm not lame enough to do that.
