Got my chip Wednesday and didn't get a chance to put it in today. After cleaning the contacts and putting the computer in several times still no worky worky. Tried leaving the chip out, starts up fine. Put the chip back in and just doesn't turn over. I didn't see the Anti-theft light come on, hell don't know if I even got a anti theft light. I studied the chip and am pretty sure all the sealant is off. I have a 1998 F-150 4.6l automatic 4x4. Chip code is F0U1. I read on the tech page about jumpers. But it doesn't tell you were to solder! From what point to what point? Look at the pictures but the boards are similar but not the same. Can't tell where to solder by looking at the pictures anyway. So the short of it is what to do next? I know how to solder but really don't what to screw a $200 investment up. Any suggestions?
I sent a 4 bank FOU1 so that pretty much rules out the code and its a safe bet you got one of the Ford computer's that's missing the jumpers. I recommend you 1-407-321-5644. This is the Diablo national distributor and they handle the jumper additions all the time. Ask for Alex. He can either walk you through the procedure (or help you find the spot to jumper so you can have an electronics shop put it in for about $25) or arrange for you to send the computer to them. They offer FREE overnight service on the jumper.
If you aren't comfortable with jumper additions, give us a shout on Monday and we'll gladly refund the purchase. Unfortunately, you're pretty much stuck if you want to chip it since so no brand of chip will work with the jumper missing. You could use a Hypertech programmer (which we'll be offering in the next 2 weeks) but you won't get all the benefits since it tunes at wide open throttle (but it does change the tranny at all throttle positions).
I don't mind soldering the jumper in myself just need to know where to jump from to from. I call Monday and see if he can help. I'm really anxious to get the Diablo working. Thanks for your help. I'll keep you posted.
Looked at those pictures. None look like my board. One is very similar but I notice some components are not there that are on mine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Talked to Alex this morning. He said it didn't need a jumper. Asked me if the anti-theft light was blinking, I told him no. Asked if the check engine light was blinking, I thought it was. I'll put it in tonight and check both of these things. I looked and there was no sticker under the hood just in case the computer had been reprogrammed before I had got the truck. I'll keep you posted. Man I want the Diablo to work. Been bragging that I was finally getting one and really don't want to eat my words
Sorry for the delay, been really swamped getting ready for the F100 Supernationals. Try a reclean. If that doesn't work, call us and we'll can send another chip. It may have been zapped by ESD (Electro-Static Discharge).
