i have a 1990 F250 now with a 351W.. im getting 11 to 13 i saw a 04 diesel 2day i fell inlove :P
it was a 03 or 04 F250 superduty dubbel cab dont know wich engine i think its a 6.0 powerstroke,
my question is how much better mpg does it get than my gasser now? or just put halve of the mony for one like that in my gasser to make it maybe more nicer than that one? i live on a island so no much highways and i dont use it for towing the most that i will do with it is to daily drivin and hauling big speakers and sound system.

Dont buy a diesel for fuel economy is my opinion. If you need one for towing, buy it, if you need just driving I would not buy one.I own one myself but it is because I like them and I happen to have the money to have one. They are more expensive to maintain and the fuel used to be higher, but now its not.I agree with what one man said earlier, dont go 40,000 dollars in debt for a truck when you could use that money somewhere else. The older you get the more you will learn this. Now if you make awesome money and the payment wont hurt then get what you want!

Diesels definitely hold their value better than gassers.
But remember, you also pay that much more up front. The difference between a new F150 gas and a new Superduty diesel could be as much as $15K comparatively equiped. You have to look at the percentage of depreciation between the 2 from their original price.

I know I had a 98 F150 Lariat, extended cab that I bought new for $27,000. I sold it 5 years later with 78,000 miles and got $16,500. So it depreciated 37% over 5 years. I just bought an 04 Lariat Superduty diesel with 56,000 miles. Original owner paid $42,800 new and I bought it for $21,500. So it lost just about 50% of it's value over 3 years. I know I got an exceptional buy but I do think if you look at actual depreciation percentage, the diesels still loose the same and in some cases more. And holy cow, would I hate to have to sell a V10 Superduty right now.

Maintanance is more with almost 4 gallons of oil, more expensive filters etc etc. And from what I'm seeing, the resale on the 6.0's hasn't been that great. Alot of people are afraid of them. Wanting something and needing something are two different things. I've been driving diesels for decades, but if I didn't need them for work, I'd probably drive a half ton gasser. I also have a second small car that I drive daily so I only use my diesel when it's needed.
oh sorry i thought you meant that your f150 was the 96 and your psd was the 04!!!

Of course 03 & 04 6.0 Powerstrokes probably take the biggest beating on resale value of all diesel pickups made since GM dropped the 6.2/6.5.

Howdy, this is my first post on this forum. I have been looking at FTE for a long time and getting info and advice. I currently have a 2003 F250 sc 4x4 5.4 auto 3:73. It has 107,000 miles and is ready to be replaced according to the normal time schedule my company uses. I am looking at an 08 F250 Diesel for a mileage increase as well as the increased power output and maybe a longer service time. I have watched the FTE for info on problems, mileage and overall satisfaction. cju101, this is the place to find out what you need to know.

In Dec 2002 I bought a 2003 Model CC F250 with the 6.0 and it was a loaded Lariat I paid 39K for it and three years 9 months and 36000 miles later I sold it for 32k: I did have about 3k worth of extras on it and it looked as good as new or better with a lengthy Oasis report to boot. By the way it sold in 3 days.
The guy who purchased it has never had any issues with it and he couldnt be happier. The updated turbo cured all its problems.

Just food for thought!!!
