It's been awhile since I've looked through the forums. I've wanted headers for a long time but had plenty of other stuff to tackle first. I have a a'69 CS Ranger and had a lot of trouble locating headers to clear the anti-sway bar. Add the fact that I have a '73 Lincoln 460 and the problems were compounded. I was just wondering if anyone had noticed if any of the header manufacturers had added any more applications for our trucks or if the correct headers were any more accessible than they were about a year and a half ago? I seem to recall that the only pair that fit my application were L&L (which I believe were advertised on the Bronco Graveyard) and they were back-ordered for quite awhile with ship dates as far as 3 months or more. It's all gotten a little fuzzy as the bookmarks I saved went away with my old computer. Any ideas? Thanks.
i got these from jegs part#500-89140 they fit the 71 great didnt even have to lift the motor to install'em.the drivers side went in from the bottom and the pass side droped down from the top.
I spoke to JEGS but they won't guarantee fit. Do you have a Camper Special? They claim it won't work because of the anti-sway bar and/or the cross-member. I've heard both of these issues before, but I've also heard that they are sometimes non-issues and that certain headers do fit. I'm going to use side pipes so the cross-member won't be an issue. I'll just go below. I am worried about the anti-sway bar though. Did you have to do any "massaging" with a hammer or anything? I want coated headers and using a hitter will void the warranty and cause chipping.
mine isnt a CS so im not shure where the sway bar would run.the colecter stops about 4-5" infront of the crossmember and is desind to run the exuast over the top of it,i dont think there would be enuff room to run an elbo down then out to side pipes unless a short pipe was used to go over the X member 1st
