When truck has been high idling for say 10-15 minutes in hot weather and I leave it sounds like the engine fan is on and then when I accelarate it makes what seems to be a metal on metal squeeling or even a loose belt noise. I have also heard this noise when towing and fan comes on then if I accelarate the squeeling noise starts again. It does not make noise for long maybe 5-10 seconds. Any suggestions ?

It could be a bad belt, i believe there is a TSB out on this.

How would I find a copy of this TSB ? I have called several dealers in the Houston area and inquired about this noise and they were dumbfounded. I also found this on another forum and it sound like the same problem.
I think I've got the same problem. I'm pulling 18,000 lbs of fifth wheel. When I get in the hills, here's what happens:
The truck downshifts.
The fan clutch kicks in.
As I get to the top of the hill, the truck shifts back into overdrive (5th).
The fan is still running.
Right before the fan stops, it sounds like an old-fashioned telephone ringing somewhere under the hood.
When the ringing stops, the fan clutch has disengaged.
This only happens when I'm running up and down hills with the trailer. The gauges never move to indicate any overheating condition or even a rise in temperature at all.
I'm thinking fan clutch or idler pulley?
