Moisture in engine

I had engine and tranny out to get some work done to them. Put them back in the truck a week back. Due to schedule, I could not finish up and so covered the whole front of the truck with a tarp. Last weekend it rained pretty heavy. So, this morning, I went out to make sure everything is ok and I saw puddle of water around the intake. I am guessing some water or moisture went through the intake. How bad of a news is that? Any cure for it other to yank engine out again?

my guess is to pull the plugs and turn it over, that should blow any water out of it.
might want to wait for some more opionons though.

Wet engine

The best thing is to get it running as soon as possible to dry it off. Do what Marks69 says, or to save the trouble of pulling the plugs, slowly turn the engine over with a 1/2" drive socket wrench on the damper bolt, to make sure that no cylinder "hydraulics" due to water infiltration.

How assembled is the engine? Is it carburated or injected? Were there open passages exposed by a missing carb or upper FI manifold?

The only place water can enter is through the intake as the carb is missing. The distributor is not there, but I had that hole plugged with a polythene bag. I will take out the plugs and turn engine over and see how much of water is there. I don't imagine it is all that much.
