Changing timing chain - check the old first
I am replacing my timing chain on my 292 F600. Got the parts. Have searched and see that I should have 12 pins between the marks. Thought I would check the old one to confirm I know how to interpret this. However the old has alot of marks dings on the top gear. So I pointed the crank gear mark to 3:00 a couple times to see how it would line up with the cam marks. Best I can find is a mark with only 11 pins. Could it be possible the truck would have run with only 11 pins. Maybe it was installed incorrectly before. Or maybe it jumped a pin? The chain is very loose.
