manual trans lost OD

manual trans lost OD
2000 SD 250 pushing 300k
manual trans
started out by easing out of OD only when you let off accelerator
touch foot feet goes back in on its own
now cant shift into OD at all just grinds
even when shut off put in OD and start it comes out immediately
Anyone have ideas, before it goes to shop on Monday.
I am new to the forum and would appreciate any advice. I cant believe all the help I have found on all the other little issues (door locks, ball joints, horn) I have that you guys have already experinced and fixed. It is a great help. I have been searching for two days on the OD problem but havent found anything. Thanks again for your help and the great website of useful info.

i hope you have some money saved up b/c i pretty sure ur gonna have to buy a reman tranny i'd do a search on the internet and try to find a good deal on a reman also i'd throw a clutch at it since your gonna be there anyway i think either the scynros are gone or the shifter rails are wrong out
