Just went and picked up my Father's Day present yesterday...a brand new Ford F350 Dually Lariat with the 6.4L Diesel motor! She sure is sweet and I can't believe how quiet she is compared to my 05 F350 6.0
One thing I learned today though (naturally - after I got the truck) is this whole thing of the 6.4 shooting a 3 foot flame out the tailpipe when the cat does it's "afterburn". Wouldn't be a problem (in fact it would be quite an impressive show I hear) if it wasn't for the fact that this truck will be towing my fifth wheel. I have GAP insurance on the truck but not on the fiver and having it catch fire would, shall we say, put a damper on the family vacation!
Is this something I should be worried about? Does Big Blue have a fix for it?
Ford has already done a recall reflash for this problem, plus it was just a few that had it and the issue seems to be resolved after the first month so you will be fine and don't worry your computer is already set up with the reflash I am sure ifyou just bought it.
Just enjoy your new truck, and congratulations.
Thanks everyone who replied...I am feeling a lot better about this! Didn't really want to strap my family to a rocket! LOL! Although it would have been a helluva ride!
