Can you tell me why I am still getting a code (340) that says that the camshaft position sensor has a curcuit malfunction? I have replaced it. What am I missing. Can I safely install a chip in my well maintained and well running 95 f150 w/302 auto?the mileage. Its at 112,000. Can you recommend a good chip? Do they all have a minumin octane rating?

Thank you
Tom

Try a continuity test on the wiring from the sensor.

For the chip, either a Diablo or Superchips would do well. Both require 91 octane (92 or higher is recommended). Diablo has some very agreesive code, usually a little more HP but the odds are lower that Diablo has a program for your ECU code. The chips that don't require higher octane only get their horsepower gains during open loop (near wide open throttle).

Thanks a million!!! I assume the milage (112,000) is not a factor for the chip. As I said the truck has been very well maintained. Thanks again.

Mileage, per se, is not a factor if the engine is in good shape and has good compression. Really no different that any other case of upgrades. :-)
