Towing wire harness

Picked up my new F150XL today. I got the tow pkg ($350) but I found a wiring harness in a plastic bag in the door pocket. Do I need this or is it just If you don't get the tow pkg? Thanks, Guy

It is most likely the harness for a trailer brake controller, it will plug in under the dash to the right of the steering column. That way you can connect the brake controller to the harness and plug it in under the dash, mount and then your done.

Yes to a point. But, that towing wiring harness will need to be spliced to your brake controller wires. Your best bet is to order the correct wire harness for the brake controller for your F150, then just plug it in under the dash.

the harness should be like 4 wires (you will need) on the factory harness (which are labeled) to hook up. match the wires up to your brake controller wires. easy enough. install the relay in the pass side fuse box if needed

Yes , there is a relay in there also. So I only need this if I tow something with brakes, right? Thanks, Guy

i cant remember what exactly the relay does....but on my trailer i have interior lights, that didnt work without the relay installed. i think that is what it controls. once installed the interior lights worked. i believe the brake lights will work without the relay installed.
