Question First time for everything....

My truck just started throwing an occasional CEL. This is the first time I have ever seen the light come on. When it comes on shortly after startup it goes out after maybe a half minute or so. It has happened maybe 4 times since memorial day weekend.
Fuel filter light also started flickering at low rpm yesterday, so that should be easy make go away by changing the filter, although I only have about 8k on the filter that is in there now.
I have a little $ laying around and am thinking about buying an OBD reader. Any suggestions as to brand?

Autoenginuity is the best scanner according to many users here. It's pricey, get it from ITP diesel, they are the cheapest:

I have an Auto Xray, it's just a basic scanner, mine does not work on diesels but they do make one that will:

I don't know much about these:

Before you get to into it, don't forget to do the old check fuel regulator screen and clean....

Just a thought...
