Truck- 2000 F150 4x4 4.2l V6 XL sport, anything else ask.
It all started with the battery light flashing at higher rpms, then with more miles it stayed on but the volt meter never dropped. As everyone on here said it was the alternator going bad. It tested bad also. I got a new one from o rielly, a higher amp one too, and had my mechanic install it. The battery light went off but after 2 days of driving, the volt meter dropped and i barely made it home(one day of driving for me totals maybe 10 miles). I charged the battery and in another 2 days, the battery went dead again. We exchanged for another alternator and tried another battery too, both were good batteries, and the truck is still losing charge. I have checked a couple ground wires, all the connections are good and clean of corrosion. I am stumped, any ideas or similiar experiences?????? I am not on here often but will try and check it every night.
When the alternator was installed the shop may have neglected to disconnect the battery and they grounded out the + wire on the alt. They either blew the fuse or burned up the fused link.
