So I have an 85 f250 6.9, 4x4, C6, 3.55. I just got a sweet deal on an 84 2 wheel drive E350 6.9, c6, 4.10. Rebuilt engine with 30K, rebuild C6 Tranny 30K, Gear Vendors 30K 2 years old, Banks Exhaust 30K, new rear axle with 4.10 10K. Yup $1800 gotta love craigslist!
<O></O>
Anyway a few questions to help plan the extent of the swaps.
1)What are the differences if any from the c6 tranny in a 2 wheel drive to that in my 4x4 truck?
2)The axle in the E350 is new with only 10K. Is it the same axle in my f250 the gears are different but is the axle itself?
3)I plan on using my truck to hold my Lance 10.5 camper. With a banks, gear vendors, 33’s pulling usually just the camper but occasionally a 12 foot enclosed trailer with 3 or 4 dirt bikes. Would you recommend the 3.55 or the 4.10’s I’m thinking the 3.55 just to maximize my mpg’s. As it is my truck won’t move up hills and I live in <ST1>Southern California.</ST1> Do you think I’d still be disappointed up hills with the 3.55. Guess it’s a trade off lower gearing or efficiency but does anyone have experience with GV, banks, and 3.55 or 4.10’s.
No I believe the drive train is fine including the engine it had gotten hit by a small car in the the front driver side ripping off the tire and suspension components. Everything looks great. The van itself looks imaculate except for the damage caused by the accident. The gentleman I purchased it from had gone through the entire drivetrain and had everything replaced or rebuilt. You'ld have to see to appreciate.
