Since I can't get my truck towed up here, I'm going to go back down to it and replace the front pump seal on the tranny since I'm sure that's what went out and then drive it back up here, hopefully.
I know the transmission will need to be pulled in order to get the seal out, but are there any special tools needed to install the new seal? Any tips or suggestions or step by step instructions once it's out? Thanks for the help.
Get a main engine seal while you're at it, it's as easy as the transmission front seal. While the trans is down, check the freeze plugs on your engine and heads. If they are corroded, change them out. Actually, I would change them out anyway. Brass plugs are inexpensive. You can pop the oil seals off with a screwdriver. When you replace the seals, coat the lips with good grease.
