After reviewing the post reply, from my question, im leaning towards getting a newer air filter, i've noticed my k&n filter has'nt really done too much to my pickup. 50$ grr wasted. This website is great not only do people get advice, but you can pretty much see what products are a great buy, and which products should remain on the shelf. Anyhow, on the post yall guys added the MAF sensor, bye MAF sensor do yall mean the lil small chip inside the factory stock intake, right in front of the filter-tubing?? Would like to know?? Also, getting rid of the K&N filter, possibily selling it where should i sell it?? It's only has 6,000 miles on it, hav'nt oiled it yet? Anyone would be kind of enough to tell me which air filters, are worth looking into, or better yet investing in aftermarkert or mainstream don't matter to me as long as it give's me a couple more HP horses, along with a cooler engine or cleaner. Moreover, folks i read a post regarding a bama tuner??? Where can i purchase one, and exactly how do these gadgets work? Lastly, after my warranty expires, 7,000 to go i would like to purchase a cold air intake for my V6, does anybody know if they make 'em for my particular engine v6 4.2l, and there are so many cold air intake systems out their which one's are worth investing in??
A much appreciated thanks to all who reply?
go to www.jusnesmodified.com for the tuner, he also sells a AMISOL filter. The tuner is $399 filter is around $35. I wouldn't waste the money on the filter I would go back to the stock. I'm not sure if the BamaChips will work on a v6 I would contact Bob Jusnes on that.
Dollar for dollar youre going to get the best performance from our BamaChips tuner. Youll get three custom tunes written just for your truck and you intend to use it. It plugs in under the dash to reflash the computer then you can unplug it and store it until you are ready to use it again to change the tune or set the truck back to stock. We can certainly do tunes for the 4.2L engine
As far as the air filter, if youre going to use the stock intake, then a paper filter will be fine. You wont see any performance gain from changing out the filter alone, though you could go for the whole intake like you mentioned before.
On these new trucks you dont have to change the MAF to make any performance gains.
Best bet for your truck would be tuner first and foremost. Then look into intake, exhaust, and efans. The tuner is going to give you the largest gains, best MPG increase, and better drivability.
