Sounds like a dumb thing Arctic, but ive never fished for salmon before, care to fill me in on how to get started, types of hooks, rods, line to use, etc?

I use a lite graphite Black Widow rod with a custom drag casting reel with 20# line and spinners. If I'm trolling I put on a ford fender and a cut herring. I've landed up to a 45 pound King on this setup. It takes a wile to get him in and ya got to run the boat with him to keep from running out of line. Do the same with the big silvers here. They run 12 to 24 pounds. But most use a large triple hook with 50 to 80 pound line and snag them and just winch them in. But that ain't sport fishing to me. But sometimes when ya can see them there and they won't bite a mans got to do what a mans got to do.

Have caught a lot bigger but that was on heavier gear or Commercial. There is also the Halibut from 80 to 400 pounds.

We got fish that out weigh the black bear and deer. Lucky to see either go over 200 pounds. That's an average Blackie and a damn nice Sitka Black Tail
