this is my first "real" garage. I've got the entire thing oriented towards myself. NO non car stuff in my garage. The wife and kids stuff stays in the house.
I put a 27" tv in there with surround sound a a 5 disc dvd, along with satellite tv (sirious radio too) then assembled a work bench, got an air compressor, a sand blaster, a press, and a part washer...Next on the list is a powdercoating system, but I don't have a 220 hookup for a stove in the garage, so I'm still kind of up in the air about that...maybe I'll get a small oven big enough for intakes and the sort, but no bigger. My dream garage is coming into play, it sure does make things easier....Now if I could only keep it clean!!
As for heavy, DAMN!!!! I've pulled a zillion 5.0 motors and t5 trannies out of 80's mustangs, but NEVER a 400. I've NEVER heard my engine hoist creak like that, lol. One heavy pig for sure!
At least you do have the garage to work in. I have had one all my life until the past 2 years. I am finishing my 400 rebuild and it goes back in this weekend. I did most of the work under a carport but had to push it outside to pull the engine. Worst was outide is very old asphalt and the puller didn't roll to easy. Coming out was hard but finessing the engine back in I will have to put plywood down to roll on. Good luck with your project!

That's awesome.
I think you now get the hint why they're called boat anchors.
