They are an 8 inch, and one is 4 pinion like a Ford 9 inch.
Google search and you may find, as I did, a pretty good bunch of sites about them. There are several models, depending on 4, turbo 4, V6 and what rig they went in.
Best part is they are drop-out carrier so you can have several around for those 1/8th mile runs or Bonneville runs...., just like a 9 inch.

What do you mean about a "drop out carrier"? It is in a toyota 4 runner auto 4x4 if I am no mistaken it has 4:10 gears in it or is it 4:35?
Ok after "Googling" I was wrong I have 4:30 gear ratio with a 2 pinion design. Do I have to pull the axels to drop the carrier? I am pretty sure I will end up getting a whole rearend bad thing is they go for $500 around here so if you have any insight it would be much appreciated.
Yup, you have to pull the axles. Is you diff busted or noisy? If so, you need to clean the axle tubes etc out real good, or you new one will be junk soon.
I found a scrap yard here in KS that has one for $200 assembly and all w/ guarntee I am waiting for a call back from them as we speak to tell me they have removed it. Thanks for all your help I learned alot about my 4 runner with this little ordeal.
