Ok ive read the highboy stuff but ive still got a few ?s.
First. Will a 351 m bolt to the engine stands that a 360 were bolted to? Im talking about the part that bolts to the frame. I know my tranny will need to be changed but im jsut wondering about engine stands.
Second. Is there any options for a fuel tank to go in the rear between the frame rails? I know highboy tanks were behind the seat but i was looking for something to bolt under the bed in the rear.
Thanks Dave
WEll i bought that highboy for parts and someone has put a 78-79 cab on it and a steel tank on the bed. When i mount the transfer on my crew its gonna hit dead center of my side mount tank so if i cant move it back im gonna have to find a tank. Ok mil just wonderin will the stands off a 78-79 bolt to the highboy frame?
I used the stands or towers off of a 1979 f150 in my 1975 crewcab for a 400, they fit and the front bolts lined up but the back did not I welded about 1" welds in the rear bolt areas. I welded with the frame on top and on boxed piece on inside, not across frame. PO had cutup the original towers. Trans will work but bell housing will be different. If the tran cross member wont line up with one of the holes in frame bracket flip the mount end for end.
I made my own fuel tank for the rear to hold about 36 gal and moved the rear cross member forward to barely clear the rear end if it would ever get close to it.

ok i got another ? Im guessin Mil has the answer for this. In factory form how much higher is my 77 highboy than my 79 250? I noticed when it comes to lift kits that a 6 in lift for a 79 aand a 4 in lift for a 77 share the same part number. so does this mean the 77 is only 2 in higher than the 79?
