I would like to do away with all the electronic junk and put a carb on this truck.
My main question is will the transmission work right or do I have to use an older trans as well.
1990 F-250, 351 engine, not sure of transmission, but it has a cable that runs
from the throttle arm to a switch with about 5 wires on the trans.
The parts I need for the engine are not that much money, a guy I work with
has most of it. He builds pulling trucks so his all have manual trannies.

Do you have electronic overdrive? Doubtful, but you could have an early E4OD. Most likely I expect that to be a C6. Either way it is completely doable. Should you have an E4OD you would need a stand alone comp, otherwise it should be pretty straight forward.
