Well I made a headache rack for my friend. Now my sister wants one for her husbands truck since he broke the back window loading logs. SHe told others about how nicely done my headache racks were I might have some guys up around Nipawin ordering them from me.
I checked the aftermarket ones. and they star at about $600 and up. So I figure $300 starting would be good, but my wife figures $500 is better. I think then I would not be able to sell them.
Anyways. It looks if I can get my shop organised. I can start up a little sideline here. Help me along on bills and stuff.
I should sometime. I'd like to get into fiberglassing and start spiffing up the interior of the 77. Technically my dad's 79 fuel truck is in much nicer condition then my truck, except for the endgate. You know how those factory once can get looking like a mine field.
Yeah I like doing that stuff. I got some endgates I made over the years to fit trucks. I have one almost done for my 78. Lates the air flow, but keep your stuff in the box.
I was looking at some sites that make those headracks and endgates and bush bumpers. Well I don't think I want to tackle the bumper stuff. The sites I check are mostly from Texas, but their product cost about the prices I said, due our borders chargeing for them to come here, which gets passed onto you the consumer.
This is something I have no trouble making and actually enjoy making them. So with retirement years away. It is something I can aim at to supplement my retirement with also.
Then I'd say make them a bit cheaper. If you aren't doing it as a buisness, might as well make it a bit of a deal, otherwise some people might just think about those Texas dealers instead. I'm personally not a fan of the headache racks, mainly because I like my truck too much to throw stuff at it, lol. They are very useful though for the work trucks.
If you ever find a server or anything for a website, I could help with the java and html stuff. I'm in Saskatoon at the moment though.
I think a 460 is too, yes, too big. I have a 400 that I'll swap into it, maybe see if I can get Siast to rebuild it for me. And I think I could make some good bucks off that boat anchor. If I found an Olds cutlass (60's) though I'd keep it.
While the 400 is cool I like 351W better, it`s alot more common and there is more available for it.
I`ve never had any thing to do with the 351M/400 engines so I don`t know much about them.
That would be a cool little side business Glen. If your selling them around Nipawin, I think i know a few guys that may want to put in an order from you.
i knew of a situation where a guy might be alive if he had one...had his quad in an s-10, rear ended a small car, but the quad came in over the cab and killed him...ya never know, it might have been enough to save him..
