New Guy

Found this site the other night and have been lurking some. Nice site. I have a 2002 CC (Powerstroke of course) with a Hypertech Programmer, running stage 3 now just can't let go of the response difference. But I'm in the market for a intake system or better airflow. I've looked at the AIS system which to me seems kinda restricive if it's for heavy duty areas. I'm not in alot of dust. But alot of you guys have it. Also read where some are louder than others, not really wanting anything much louder but would like to hear the turbo more. I have run a K&N OEM filter replacement and after 1000 miles and a mileage drop to 10 visited the Ford Dealer in Fargo while I was visiting friends and jerked that thing out. Got 3/4 of my money back to.

AEM and AFE have my interest so far like the idea of a dry filter plus I saw someones data on filtration the other night where one of those filtered better and had more airflow.

Had some people recommend the K&N intake but leary of that. I haven't seen AIRAID mentioned much on here either.

Heres the ride.

The AIS with the fender sleeve mod and zoodad mod might help you with getting some extra airflow out of the AIS. That's the route that I'm going with once I get my AIS.

Welcome to FTE! I'm sure there will be plenty of opinions on which filter to run, so be ready to take some advice friend.

welcome FTE....I have the AFE stage 2 with a pro guard 7 filter..I love it..it is pricey but you can search e-bay and find one there for much less..I don't get any drone from mine.its pretty quite till you open the hood..then it sounds like a shop vac..you can also do the wix 6637 filter like most of the guy's here for around 40 bucks..but that is loud from what I under stand...good luck with your search..

Welcome to the site and the PSD Club. Nice truck.

An AFE Stage II sure would help that baby breathe and the Darth Vader voice from the open intake will sound really good while offering superior filtration.

THanks for the replies.

I ran straight pipe for a week and that was all I could stand the drone at 70. The only muffler I could get was for a 6.0 when I went back. Since I have no exhaust system but stock will the extra air in but not out impede my performance and effiiciency??

Is the 6637 just a filter or a kit? I looked and all I found was a filter.

And what's everybodies expereince with Airraid?

Sorry for all the ? but all my friends run gas and this is the only place it seems I can get good advice and not from the guy pumping fuel next to me with the bottomless wallet, if you know what I mean.

We have had real good luck with the AFE Stage II systems. We carry all three styles of filters and the Pro-guard 7 and Pro-Dry S seem to be the favorites. http://www.alligatorperformance.com/...TOKEN=65881910

As far as efficiency, the stock exhaust system is limited by the down pipe and the restrictive muffler. We have some pretty inexpensive kits the come with Mufflers. Diamond Eye and MBRP seem to be very quiet. Let us know if we can help

The Pro-Dry S filter is an oil free, two ply synthetic media that requires minimal service except to wash with soap and water. It still filters well, flows well and the dealers can't blame the intake on a MAF sensor problem.

The Pro-Guard 7 filter is a 7 layer (5 cotton and micro fiber layers and 2 synthetic polyester fiber layers) oiled type. This filter ws designed to be used in harsh enviroments and filters down to 99.5% Fine Dust efficiency instead of the industry standard of 99.5% Course Dust efficiency. I might no ultimately flow as well as there 5 layer and Dry filter, but it more effective with Turbo diesels, due to volume of air that they move. I hope that answered your question.
