Got my B2 back with th4.56 gears installed! Had 4 Wheel Parts do it out here in CO Springs and they done me right. Now I am just gonna break the gears in...you know...easy drivin and no horseplay for a couple of weeks.
One thing is for sure though...speedo is off by a good 10 mph so I will have to have the wife pace me in our Cherokee in the next couple days so I know how to read it .
Just letting you all know what's up...
Put an electronic speedometer in it. Or buy a Garmin GPS-72 for $160 at West Marine and mount it to the dashboard (they have kits). I use the GPS, only drawback is the batteries, but, I only drive about 5k a year in the vehicle that needs it.
Make sure you run the gears in for about 500 miles, then drain and refill your diffs. What size tires are on it? You could probably go to 4lo.com and use one of their calculators to figure out what your speed should be, if I remember right.
I have a pink one and live right down the road near Albuquerque if you need it. I still need to slow mine down a notch. I think it slows down the speedometer when you add teeth. If that's the case, I think I need a red one. What color is your gear? If you have a red one I'd be interested in swapping with you if you need a pink one. If you need a pink one and your's isn't red you can have mine for cost of shipping.
powr, use the calculators on the mustang site in the thread I posted and it will tell you pretty much exactly which one you need for your setup. You may have to finagle the corresponding P-metric sizes, unless 4lo.com has a flotation size to p-metric conversion calculator to use to make it work. I believe you are right, though, more teeth = slower speed read on the speedometer, fewer teeth = faster speed.
