Fuel?

Yesterday morning, I put about 10 gallons of diesel in my 2004 F250 at the local Truck stop. I was going to use the pumps for regular vehicles, but the pumps for diesel were out of order, so I used the pumps for the big rigs. I got back on the highway and when I hit about 65, she started making a wooshing noice and wanted to stall. I didn't have any power, so I mashed the gas and it was back running alright until this morning when I was pulling out of the drive and hit about 15 mph it loss power again, but then regained it after I accelerated. Please help was this caused by the fuel or is it something else.

No way for sure to know... but I bet it is something else.

1) Clogged fuel filter?

2) Leaking fuel filter cap (air)?

3) Wiring harness chaffing - there have been certain recalls for this... but if the problem clears up after a while... then I doubt it?

4) May have excess water in the frame rail fuel filter?

5) May have picked up very poor quality fuel from this station???

I would fill up from a different station and add a readily available fuel additive at double dosage rates (displaces water and adds cetane). Fill tank up totally full.

Drain water valve on frame rail filter and see if this clears up. Look to see if any sediment? May even change out both fuel filters as it does not take a lot to reduce the fuel pressure to the point of "starving" the injectors.

Make sure you use Racor made fuel filters (racor, Int'l or Motorcraft) as to get OEM spec and quality filtration.

Good luck,

Means nothing if you got bad fuel. Ford states to change fuel filters around 10,000 - 15,000 miles depending on who you speak too.

Who changed it and what brand of filter was used? Was the filter cap tightened properly. Even if you changed it last week, bad fuel is bad fuel and the filter(s) are doing their job. You asked......

Problem fixed, Dropped it off at the local Ford dealership and the following was found;EGR removed and cleaned, reprogrammed PCM to correct choking, performed TSB to recalibrate FICM to correct surging problem and replaced EBP sensor, so much for the fuel problem..
