Weird sound

I've noticed a loud annoying sound in my truck lately. Sounds like tire noise, like that humm, but its only when i apply power. Plus i've changed my tires since its started and that didnt do anything. I'm certain its not tires but i would like some advice in what it could be. then i have a place to start looking and fixing

2002 ford f-150 4x4.

Thanks for your helps guys
Patrick

Well it only seems to make the sound when theres a little more then 1000rpm and up. As soon as i let off the throttle the sound quits, unless the engine shifts down and once again brings the rpms past that 1000rpm range. I'm not to sure what an IAC is sorry. I'm pretty sure my u joints are good, gave them a good look over and nothing seems out of the ordinary. Really would like to figure it out, so if any information you need just ask and i'll do my best in answering. Hope for the best guys

Thanks again
Patrick

I had a loud annoying hum like that and it turned out to be the driver's side front wheel bearings. I had them changed, and it's been fine ever since. It would be something to check for.

That happened to a dodge my brother had. We thought the hum was the tires on the pavement but when we drove on a sandy road and the sound was the same we knew it was something else. Turns out, he overloaded the truck and towed this huge trailer a week before some 1200 miles and he blew something in the rearend. That was why we would only hear it at slightly higher rpms.

Mind you this thing hummed at all speeds if you listened for it.
