I have the Diablo chip for the V-10 that I am going to have you reprogram for the Diesel. I want the 78hp program but before we do this I have some questions. How much will this make my truck smoke and how much will it raise the exhaust temperature? I know there is a limit to how much I can tow but need to know about the above. Oh yeah, my code is APX1.
The 78HP will smoke under heavy throttle, no doubt about it. SCMT will do the same thing in the 80HP setting. With some codes we program what we call an "all around file" which is sort of a compromise: 65HP. Good towing ability, lower EGTs but more power than a 54HP. Unload the 78HP ought to stay under 1275 (inlet side) but its possible to go over. This is not a problem per se, the problem is not peaking momentarily over, its staying over and allowing the blades to absorb that heat. Any heavy towing with the 78 HP will require a downpipe.
