Cool Mpg?

I see alot of topics on here on trying to figure out how, much mpg does anybody's truck get. I know for a fact it depends on the driver. But lets forget that for a moment! I am going to join the handful of people who are not that great at math, so here it goes? How do u figure mpg on our F-150 fellow truckers wether it be a 5.4l 4.2l or so on?? Well yall got me stumped, so a lil help would be needed please any math wizards on here???

Note i own a v6 4.2l stx reg cab, and when i bought it, my city was 16mpg with a 20mpg depending on driving conditions. I remember driving up to austin tx from down south tx where i live, normally taking about a three hr drive, made in two hrs with more than half my tank left, from where i live to austin tx is nearly hhmm i say about 300 plus miles. Oh yeah i did speed at about 70 to 75 average. Pretty interesting huh? Well, thats not to include that i have a k&n filter now, 50bucks$ the filter cost me, but i don't know if its working yet?? This is why i need to figure out the Math on this whole Kakabami THingy geesh im stumped. HELP??

If you drive 300 miles and when you fill up after the drive you put 15 gal. into the tank, your MPG would be 20 MPG.

DPS must be really out there if you only did 70-75! ;-)) I live up around Dallas in Frisco.

You dont really need math, just consistancy. Go fill up at a certain pump and stop when the pump automatically shuts off. Then reset your trip mileage to zero. Drive til you need gas again and refuel at the same pump as before and stop filling when the pump shuts off automatically. Take the number of miles on your trip odometer and divide that by the number of gallons you just put in your truck. That will give you the most accurate number.

Take that k&n filter and throw it away. As for working yet you mean getting your MAF sensor oily and letting more dust in your engine. I would say it started that as soon as you installed it.

here is a thread that discusses the k&n filter
