Gas guage problem 2002 Explorer XLT
The gas gauge in my 2002 Ford Explorer XLT fails to work most of the time. The dealer said it was "bad or dirty" gas and suggested that I use Chevron fuel line cleaner. I did hear something about sulpher buildup on the tank sensor...true stuff? Either way, is there a way to fix this problem? Do I have to drop the tank and clean the sensor?

Believe it or not, I just had the same problem in my F350 with the PSD. Called the dealer and they told me the same thing. I added the fuel cleaner and within 40 miles the problem was solved. I bought the additive at Autozone which is where my dealer told me they get it. Hope this helps.
