05 AC fix

Anyone have the link for the vacuum tubing behind the glove box fix?

I've noticed my defroster runs colder than my Ac here in Dallas lately.

I'm thinking it has to do with the bypass not bypassing.

Anyone?

I am guessing you are out of your 3/36K warranty? As far as vacuum line behind glove box, the bypass valve is in the engine compartment in the heater supply line about halfway between the firewall and the front of the engine, adjacent to the oil fill pipe.

BTW the heater core shut off only full closes when "Max" or Recirculate" is selected.

I was under the impression there was a "fix" that installed a valve behind the glove box actuated by the AC control.

This dramatically lowered the AC air to something acceptable.

Dlinzy,

Your SD unless it is a Standard Cab should already have a vacuum controlled shut off valve installed in the heater supply line, half way between the firewall and the front of the engine near the oil fill tube. This vacuum controlled valve shuts off the water flow to the heater core when the manual AC control is set to "Max" or the "ECC" is set to "recirculate"

I measured my AC output yesterday in Phoenix at about 3PM and set on "recirculate" it was blowing air out at 11F.

If your AC is not performing properly, it may have a problem with low freon charge or you may have a vacuum leak or blockage in the vacuum hoses that are controlled by the Climate control switches. Here is a TSB

You may also have desiccant material clogging the evaporator core orifice tube. Here is a TSB on that

Hope this helps

I went and looked and sure enought there is a valve just where you guys said there should be.

So i guess it's off to the Stealer for warranty work.

The funny thing is in Defrost and the ambient air temp around 70 - 80 the defrost is cold enought to form condensation on the windshield. Turn on the Ac and it isn't near as cold. If i could get my Vent to do this i'd never have to run the Ac. -not enought air out of the defroster.

???
