Tire Sizes

Looking for an opinion. I drive a 2003 F350 PSD Ext. Cab 4x4 and I put 285/75/16 BFG A/T K/Os on. Only difference is that I put load range D's on it. E's were quite a bit more expensive and I dont haul with the truck just a daily driver. Dealership mechanice says it wont void my warranty and I havent really noticed any major handling problems. Just looking to see what others think.

It's fine as long as you aren't going over the load rating for the tires, and it handles ok. Some guys who put D tires on thier trucks have experienced handling issues with the rear of the truck feeling "squirrelly".

Well thats my question, the sticker on the door says that it should have E's but due to the price and the fact that i dont haul anything I figured id go with the ds. Rear end is floats a little due to thinner sidewalls but nothing major or dangerous.

It'll probaby ride a little smoother.

It should be OK if you are only using the truck for a daily driver. You have eliminated your safety margin for hauling and towing, but you know that.

It's pretty easy to overload the tires, especially on the newer trucks. If you don't exceed the tires rating then it shouldn't be an issue, however, I know that if I put a couple/few thousand pounds in the bed I can exceed the tire rating.

I just looked up your tires specs. They are rated at 3305 pounds at 65psi. That is actually more than some E rated tires, you should be fine as long as you are not loading your truck up to it's maximum payload or towing capacities.

Thanks for all the opinions. I wasnt too fond of having to go switch tires so Ill just have to be a tad more careful towing. Which is few and far between
