Toyota and GM have both fired a large salvo across Ford's bow in the 1/2 ton market. These next couple of years will be interesting to watch.
Basically, they have elevated the 1/2 ton rating into to the old 1 ton territory. In the mid 90's you needed a 1 ton truck to tow 10,000 pounds. Not any more, a 1/2 ton will work just fine.
